The calculator was developed in collaboration with Visa and Clarity AI
Poland, September 19th, 2025 – ING Bank Śląski has launched a tool that allows users to calculate their estimated individual carbon footprint. It also allows users to see how their daily choices can impact the environment and their surroundings. It presents how their results compare to those of other residents of our country. Additionally, users can learn personalized tips on how to reduce their carbon footprint—in line with their values and lifestyle. The calculator was developed in collaboration with Visa and Clarity AI.
Access to knowledge about the impact of everyday choices on the natural environment should be universal, which is why the solution is available to all users as an open service. It does not require logging in or owning any ING product. It was created to help understand what a carbon footprint is and why it’s worth caring about. The tool also provides information that helps debunk popular myths and demonstrates the environmental benefits of making conscious, everyday choices.
Users can calculate their estimated carbon footprint by completing a short survey, in which the bank asks them about their lifestyle and expenses in several key areas of life, such as housing, travel, nutrition and leisure activities. Based on their responses and on average results for Poland, the website presents information about their overall carbon footprint and its components in specific areas of activity. If the result in any area exceeds the average, users can learn how to reduce their emissions. This information is presented in the form of short guides, which provides information about small changes in their daily lifestyle in accessible language. In addition to the guides, the website provides information describing the issue of carbon footprint, its real impact on the economy and its sustainable development.
“Providing an open service enabling the calculation of individual carbon footprints is element of our priorities in the area of ESG and sustainable development efforts”, says Katarzyna Stawecka, Tribe. Lead Digital Experience at ING Bank Śląski .
“We see our role in building awareness in the area of sustainable development. The individual carbon footprint calculator is another tool of this type we have created. We previously launched a calculator supporting entrepreneurs in measuring their company’s emissions. We also expanded the bank’s services to include a free energy efficiency calculator for residential buildings. We believe that such initiatives build greater awareness and enable joint initiatives within their sphere of influence, which can positively impact our environment”, added Katarzyna Stawecka.
ING Bank Śląski created and launched the carbon footprint calculator in collaboration with Visa, one of the global leaders in digital payments.
“Innovation can support not only economic development, but also positive social and environmental change. Visa’s collaboration with ING to create a carbon footprint calculator that helps users estimate their individual carbon footprint is an example of how technology and education can go hand in hand, helping them better understand the impact of their daily choices on the climate. Visa is happy to support initiatives that increase environmental awareness in this way”, says Katarzyna Pawłowicz, Head of Value Added Services CEE at Visa.
The technology behind the project is provided by Clarity AI, a global company that uses artificial intelligence to deliver advanced sustainability analytics.
“Developing knowledge based on behavioral analysis and scientific research is key to taking climate action. Our partnership with ING enables clients to understand their individual carbon footprint. Together, we can inspire informed choices and accelerate the transformation towards sustainable development in Poland”, says David Lais, Managing Director of Clarity AI .
The bank does not process the information provided in the survey for any purpose other than providing the calculation results.
