Announcement
Glass Lewis and Clarity AI announced their combination, merging Clarity AI’s advanced technology, deep sustainability data, AI analytics, and strong European market presence with Glass Lewis’ global expertise across corporate governance, proxy voting and investment stewardship.
The strategic combination significantly expands the firms’ ability to serve European institutional investors and companies through enhanced local market expertise, broader sustainability capabilities and faster product development that addresses Europe’s evolving regulatory and stewardship requirements.
The integrated platform fills a solutions gap as institutional investors increasingly seek to bring together investment analysis, sustainability, governance, engagement and voting rather than manage them through separate systems, datasets and workflows. At the same time, companies are continuously seeking a better understanding of how their institutional shareholders view their governance and sustainability practices.
“This union brings together two highly complementary sets of capabilities to support clients across the full decision-making ecosystem, from portfolio construction and monitoring to research, engagement, voting and reporting,” said Bob Mann, Chief Executive Officer of Glass Lewis. “All of our clients will benefit from accelerated AI-enabled product development and deeper data-driven insights, while we are particularly excited to expand the range of products and services built specifically around our European clients.”
Founded in 2003, Glass Lewis is one of the world’s most established providers of corporate governance insights and stewardship solutions, while Clarity AI, founded in 2017, has emerged as a leading technology and AI platform for global financial institutions, with particularly strong roots and capabilities in Europe and moving toward authorisation under the EU’s ESG Ratings Regulation.
“Glass Lewis brings outstanding depth in governance and stewardship, including key members of the former Sustainalytics team who helped build one of the most respected sustainability research franchises in the world,” said Rebeca Minguela, Founder and CEO of Clarity AI. “Combined with Clarity AI’s technology, AI capabilities, comprehensive sustainability data and sophisticated analytics, this creates a differentiated, integrated platform with deep decision-relevant data and unparalleled expertise.”
“The fact that we are designating Madrid our global centre of excellence for sustainability, data and AI innovation speaks volumes about the strategic importance of the European market and our commitment to it,” emphasised Mann.
Europe remains the global centre of sustainable investing, representing more than 80% of worldwide sustainable fund assets and continuing to attract positive net inflows in 2026. Having recently opened a new office in Amsterdam, the combined workforce of more than 900 professionals now spans 20 offices worldwide.
The transaction closed on September 23, 2026. No financial details are being disclosed.

FAQs
Why are Glass Lewis and Clarity AI coming together?
Rarely do business opportunities arise that satisfy three key factors: strategic fit, market conditions and client needs. The opportunity to combine Clarity AI and Glass Lewis meets these criteria.
Strategic fit — Glass Lewis and Clarity AI have complementary strengths and currently serve two ends of the investment spectrum, with Clarity AI highly relevant as institutional investors are constructing, monitoring and reporting on their portfolios and Glass Lewis critical to institutional investors post-investment as they carry out their stewardship responsibilities.
Market conditions — Institutional investors increasingly want data, analytics and workflows to connect across the full investment and ownership lifecycle. Together, the companies can create a more connected environment for investment and stewardship decision-making.
Client needs — Throughout the investment lifecycle, clients need reliable data, analytics, contextual insights and flawless execution. By combining the strengths of Clarity AI and Glass Lewis, we can deliver the client solutions that meet these needs.
What will the combination create?
As a combined company, we expect to be the market’s leading integrated platform that connects institutional investment and stewardship teams and supports their specific and shared decision-making. The goal is to build a broader institutional intelligence platform spanning portfolio analytics, sustainability data, governance research, stewardship, engagement, voting and reporting.
The opportunity is not simply to place products alongside one another, but to connect insights and workflows so clients can move more efficiently from portfolio analysis to ownership action and back into review and reporting.
What is distinctive about the combined offering?
The combination brings together three capabilities that are rarely available in one environment:
Scale — While both firms operate globally, Glass Lewis is more dominant in the U.S., while Clarity AI’s client base is heavily European. The combination provides a broader global footprint to support clients with scale, with local market expertise and service that provides relevance.
Judgment — Clarity AI contributes broad data, analytics and technology capabilities. Glass Lewis contributes governance and stewardship expertise, independent research and established voting infrastructure. The intended result is a richer, decision-relevant, transparent, and connected client experience.
Trust — Through high-quality product delivery and superior client service, both Clarity AI and Glass Lewis have earned the trust of their respective clients, evidenced by 90+% renewal rates, respectively.
How will clients benefit?
Clients will benefit from a more complete view of investment and ownership activities, fewer disconnected workflows, and stronger continuity between analysis, engagement, voting and reporting. Over time, the combined capabilities are intended to help clients identify priorities more efficiently, apply common evidence across decisions, document outcomes and incorporate stewardship insights into ongoing portfolio review.
Will existing Glass Lewis and Clarity AI products continue to be supported?
Yes, absolutely. Both companies remain focused on serving clients and maintaining continuity across existing products and services. Integration will be phased, with an emphasis on strengthening the client experience and preserving the capabilities clients rely on today.
What does the combination mean for data quality and methodology?
Trusted outputs require accurate, consistent, and well-governed data; clear methodologies; and appropriate human oversight. A central objective is to pair Clarity AI’s scale and data capabilities with Glass Lewis’ domain expertise and quality disciplines so that analytics are increasingly decision-relevant, transparent, and auditable.
Will Glass Lewis’ research and voting recommendations remain independent?
Independence and trust are fundamental to Glass Lewis’ client value. The combined company’s ambition is to broaden capabilities while preserving the rigor, transparency, and governance required for research and voting services. Product integration will be designed with appropriate controls and clear accountability so clients can continue to understand the basis for the outputs they use.
